Newcomer Sohn Dam-bi is capturing the hearts of Japanese internet users. Even before she made her official debut, Sohn became the talk of the town by appearing in ads for SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics.
She soared to the No.1 spot on MSN Japan, one of the largest portal sites in Japan, when video footage of her registered 480 thousand hits in just five days. The video footage covered the making of advertisements for the Yepp MP3 player. It shot up to the top of the MSN video charts on May 8th.
MSN Japan said it was shocked to see such explosive popularity for a newcomer who hasn't even made her official debut. It appears that young Japanese people went wild over Sohn's stunning dancing and good looks seen in the Yepp ad.
In addition to the making-of video, an interview with Sohn was also included in the top 10 MSN video chart, further demonstrating her incredible popularity with Japanese netizens.
Sohn was also a member of the Korean female group S-Blush, which recently climbed to second place on the American Billboard Hot Club Dance Play Chart.
